How the UGC Rate Calculator works

The calculator turns a handful of inputs into a quote range. This page explains where the numbers come from, which figures are market benchmarks and which are our own heuristics, and why you get a range rather than a single price.

Benchmark sources

The calculator’s inputs are informed by contemporary creator-economy benchmark data. The initial configuration draws on the following published guidance, read together rather than copied from any one of them:

  • Billo 2026 UGC rate guidance
  • Billo 2026 usage-rights guidance
  • Collabstr 2026 influencer marketing report
  • Later 2026 creator/influencer pricing benchmarks
  • Influee 2026 UGC pricing guidance

These are benchmarks, not official rates. They differ from each other, they change over time, and none of them is the last word on your price. We update the configuration when the guidance moves.

Benchmarks vary, and so do deals

Direct brand deals, agencies and UGC platforms price differently. Platform work often runs below direct-deal benchmarks in exchange for volume and convenience. Niche, brand size, production complexity and how well you negotiate all move the number. Treat any range here as a reference point for your own quote, not a market rule.

Licensing matters as much as production

The base production fee covers making the video for the brand’s own organic channels. Paid advertising usage, whitelisting (running ads from your handle) and raw footage are separate deliverables with separate value, so the calculator prices them separately. Usage terms are where creator income is most often lost, which is why the paid usage percentage is adjustable and shown against its benchmark band instead of hidden inside one number.

Why follower count is not an input

UGC creation and influencer posting are different services. For ordinary UGC production the brand uses the content on its channels, so the value is in the content. Follower count becomes relevant when distribution to your own audience is part of the deal. That is influencer work and priced on reach, engagement and audience fit, which this calculator deliberately does not model.

Why you get a range

There is no objectively correct rate. Each benchmark is itself a range, and add-ons are expressed as percentage bands. The calculator keeps that honesty: the low end of every line uses the low end of its band and the high end uses the high end. Line items are rounded to the nearest $5 and summed, and the low estimate can never exceed the high estimate.

Exclusivity is flagged, not priced

Exclusivity can prevent you from working with competing brands for months. Its cost depends on the category, the duration and the scope, so an automatic fee would be misleading. When you select it, the calculator shows an advisory and labels the estimate as excluding exclusivity.

Currently configured values

Every figure below lives in one configuration file and can be updated without changing the tool. “Heuristic” rows are our product defaults, chosen conservatively where no reliable public benchmark exists.
